Member for Coffs Harbour Andrew Fraser said the bcu Coffs Tri has been boosted by NSW Government funding under Round One of the 2019 Flagship Event Fund.

Mr Fraser said the Fund, managed by the State’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, provides an annual grant of $20,000 or a triennial grant of $27,500 for marketing initiatives aimed at driving overnight visitation.

“Hosting events helps shine a bright light on the Coffs Coast while putting more heads on beds, diners in our restaurants and shoppers in our boutiques, and I’m delighted bcu Coffs Tri has secured a $20,000 NSW Government grant to assist with marketing,” Mr Fraser said.

“Over the past few years we have seen a number of events in our region benefit from the Regional Flagship Events Program so it’s great to have this support reach the Coffs Coast again.

“The bcu Coffs Tri, to be held March 2-3 next year, will play a key role in encouraging visitors to stay longer here, helping to fuel our economy, so this funding grant will see local businesses benefit as well.

“More activity across the Coast means boosted local economies and more jobs and I’m looking forward to welcoming more visitors as a result of this NSW Government support.”

NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the bcu Coffs Tri is among 24 events across regional NSW to receive a grant through Round One of the 2019 Flagship Event Fund.

“Our Regional Flagship Events Program has allowed us to establish, market and develop events that give visitors more reasons to get out and see all that beautiful rural and regional NSW has to offer,” Mr Marshall said.

“Whether you are an event owner, tour operator, accommodation provider or attraction owner, we’re working hard right across our regions to make it easier for you to access vital grants to get your initiative off the ground and to get tourism booming more than ever before.

“I congratulate bcu Coffs Tri on their initiative which will help achieve our goal of tripling overnight visitor expenditure and reaching $25 billion in regional visitor expenditure by 2030.”
