Location:  Jordan Esplanade, Coffs Harbour Jetty 

Start Time:  7.30am

Bike Racking: Saturday 4 March 4.30pm-6.30pm

Transition Area Open:  Sunday 5.00am

Transition Area Closes:  Sunday 6.30am

Race Briefing:  7.00am

Bike course cut off:  The last rider will need to be off the bike course by 10.45am

All competitors who are members of Triathlon Australia (TA) are eligible to earn points when competing in the bcu Coffs TRI National Qualification Race which contributes to selection in the relevant Australian ITU World Championship Age Group team. For point scoring eligibility, athletes must be an annual member the Thursday prior to the event.

  • Individual competitors must be a minimum of 15 years old as at 31/12/2016.
  • Team Competitors must be a minimum of 14 years old as at 31/12/2016

* Triathlon Australia One Day Race Membership if required is an additional $16.50.

Race Fee includes:

  • Professional Timing and Live results
  • Goodies Bag – event kit bag with event visor and promotional material
  • Aid Stations on course (with water, toilets and first aid)
  • Post-event recovery area at finish with massages
  • A finisher’s gift
  • A Fun Day out in a beautiful part of the world!

One Day Memberships (ODM) fees apply to all participants who are not current Triathlon Australia annual members and all international participants competing in Australia who are also not current annual members of Triathlon Australia.

If ALL team members are NOT current members of Triathlon Australia the team will need to pay a ODM.


COURSE

Swim – 1500m. Open water swim in protected Harbour
Cycle – 40km. 2-Lap course on a FULLY CLOSED road, out along Hogbin Drive to Toormina 

& return
Run – 10km. Flat, 2-lap course out to the southern break wall and along the Coffs Jetty

NSW STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

The bcu Coffs TRI is the 2016/2017 State Championships.

To be eligible to be the NSW State Champion in your age group, you need to reside in NSW and be a Triathlon Australia annual member in one of the following categories:
–        Adult
–        Junior 15-16yrs
–        ITU Junior
–        ITU Youth 15-16yrs.


CHECK-IN & BIKE RACKING

Check-in is a compulsory part of participating in any of the events and will be available during the following times at the Competitor’s Village, Jordan Esplanade, Coffs Harbour Jetty:

Friday 3rd March: 4.30pm – 6.30pm
Saturday 4th March:  12pm – 6.00pm
*Please note: there will be no race kit collection on Sunday morning.

Compulsory Bike racking will take place on Saturday 4th March between 4.30pm – 6.30pm ONLY. Security Guards will be on duty in the transition area on Saturday night to watch over your bikes. If your only option is to rack Sunday morning, please email the Village Sports team to request.

Age determination for all categories is determined by age on 31st December 2016. Individual competitors must be a minimum of 15 years old as at 31/12/2016.

TEAM INFORMATION

  • Team members must be a minimum of 14 years old as at 31/12/2016
  • 14 year olds competing in a team can only compete in one leg.
  • Where teams have ALL members under 18, a non-competing team captain is required
  • Teams must comprise a minimum of 2 competitors
  • A team swimmer must not remove the timing band until within the teams transition area
  • Team Swimmer needs to pass the timing band onto the cyclist
  • Team cyclists must rack bike then hand timing band to runner within the teams transition area before runner can leave on run leg
  • Team runners remember to take the timing band off the cyclist before exiting transition

The RETRO Teams Cup Challenge is on again in 2017.

If you enter a team in any of the three categories: FEMALE, MALE or MIXED, and your team beats the RETRO Team in your category, you will take home the following:

RETRO Budgy Smugglers, goggles and swim cap for your swimmer; RETRO cycle kit for your rider; RETRO Tri suit for your runner.

In addition, there are cash prizes for the winning team members who out split the RETRO team members. Click for further details


RACE KIT

At check-in, you will receive the following as part of your race kit:

      • 1 bike sticker (to be wrapped around bike seat stem so that your number is shown on the left and right side of your bike. Numbers need to point to the back of the bike.
      • 1 helmet sticker (to be attached to the front of your helmet)
      • 1 Armband to be worn until the completion of the race
      • 1 Race Number to be worn during the Cycle and Run legs. Pins will be provided or attach to a Race Belt
      • 1 timing band (to be attached to your left ankle prior to swim start. Remember – no band, no time)
      • 1 swim cap


TRANSITION AREA

      • Transition will open for bike racking on the Saturday 4 March from 4.30pm-6.30pm.
      • Transition will open at 5.00am on Race Day and will close at 6.30am.
      • The first wave start is at 7.30am. Familiarise yourself with the location of your bike and the entry/exit points to transition.
      • No competitor will be accepted after 6.30am on Sunday and we cannot be responsible for you arriving late so please allow for mishaps when making travel arrangements.


WAVE STARTS

7:30am – Male 15-44 years (Royal blue cap)
7:38am – Male 45+ years (Green cap)
7:46am – Females (Yellow cap)
7:56am – Teams (White cap)

All competitors will receive their swim cap in their race kit. Please check that your swim cap colour reflects the colour of your wave start.


WETSUIT RULING

Wetsuits are permitted if the water temperature is below 22oC. Final wetsuit ruling will be announced Sunday morning prior to the race start.


RACE BRIEFING

Compulsory Race Briefing will take place at 7.00am in the Competitors Village.


PRESENTATIONS

Award Presentation will take place on Sunday at 12.00pm in the Competitors Village.

POST-RACE CELEBRATIONS

Please join Village Sports at C.ex Coffs on Vernon Street from 4pm on Sunday 5th March.
