How do I enter the triathlon?

How do I know if I am registered?
You will receive a confirmation email

What is the minimum age to compete in the events?
Age determination for all categories is determined by age on 31 December 2017.

bcu Standard Coffs Tri: Individual competitors must be a minimum of 15 years old as at 31/12/2017. Team participants must be a minimum of 14 years old as at 31/12/2017.
bcu Coffs Enticer: Individual competitors must be a minimum of 13 years old on Race Day.
bcu Coffs Kids Tri: Competitors must be a minimum of 6 years old on Race Day.

Are there cut-off times?
Yes. In the Standard Distance race, the last rider will need to be off the bike course by 10.00am

I am injured/unable to race. What do I do?
Please inform Village Sports via email: info@villagesports.com.au.

If you wish to receive a refund, your request must be made in writing to Village Sports. Email: info@villagesports.com.au

Upon confirmation of a refund request, athletes may be eligible for a partial refund of their entry fee.

  • Any requests received up to 12 weeks prior to the event may be eligible for a 75% refund.
  • Any requests received between 6-12 weeks prior to the event will be eligible for a 50% refund of the event entry fee paid
  • Any requests received between 2-6 weeks prior to the event will be eligible for a 25% refund of the event entry fee paid.
  • Any requests received less than 2 weeks prior to the event will NOT be eligible for a refund under any circumstances.
  • Any additional purchases (including but not limited to Triathlon Australia One Day Race Membership and merchandise purchases paid at the time of entry) are non-refundable at any time.
  • There is NO TRANSFER between athletes..

What are the Triathlon Australia Race Rules?

Are wetsuits allowed?
Wetsuits are permitted if the water temperature is below 22oC.

Is drafting allowed?
The bicycle draft zone is 10 metres long (from the front edge of the front bike to the front wheel of the next). Competitors have 20 seconds to pass through this zone.

Can I use a mountain bike?
Yes. A mountain bike or road bike is fine as long as it’s in good working order

Can I listen to a personal music player while racing?
No iPods or music devices are permitted

What will I need to race?
RACE NUMBER/STICKERS supplied at Registration.
SWIM: Goggles, appropriate swimwear/Tri Suit, Wetsuit (optional), Cap (provided), Sunscreen
BIKE: Bike, Helmet, Shoes, Water Bottle, Spare tubes, Sunglasses, Covered Torso. Race Belt
RUN: Running Shoes, Cap/Visor, Sunglasses. Torso must be covered.

This is my first triathlon. I’m not sure exactly what to do, wear, eat etc.

What happens if I get a flat tyre on the bike leg?
Practise changing a flat tyre so you know what to do if it happens during the race. Make sure you carry spares. Move off the road into a safe spot to change your tyre.

What if I am unable to stay for the Presentation?
If you are unable to stay for the presentation and have placed in your category, you must contact the Race Director within 2 weeks of the event to arrange for collection of your prize. Alternatively, you may arrange for your prize to be sent for a surcharge.
