Get in training for Running Festival

Calling all runners, joggers and walkers! The annual Bendigo Bank Coffs Harbour Running Festival is just six weeks away so it’s time to enter and commit to this fun community event.

Held on Sunday 3rd September, which is the first weekend of spring, the weather will be warmer, the days longer and what better way to start your morning than with a walk or run with family or friends around the beautiful Coffs Creek.

Event Director Sinclair Black said, “Six weeks is still plenty of time to choose an event, commit to some regular walks or runs and join in the fun.”

Coffs Harbour has plenty of training options for all ages and abilities. There is a parkrun on Saturday mornings offering a free 5km event for runners of all standards. Commencing at 7am in Park Beach Reserve it offers an opportunity for the local community to come together on a regular basis and get physically active.

The Mid North Coast Cross Country series is another option, held on Sunday mornings at various bush and beach locations on the Coffs Coast offering a 2km, 5km and 10km distances every week.

There are also more structured training sets held at the Jetty Oval on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. If group sessions aren’t for you, why not meet a friend for a regular walk or run and take in McCauley’s Headland, Mutton Bird Island or the southern break wall.

The Coffs Harbour Running Festival offers four different distances – a half marathon (21.1km), 10km, 5km and 3km events – all held along the picturesque Coffs Creek Walkway, All events start and finish at the Coffs Harbour Showground and can be done as a walk or run.

Now in its seventh year, the Coffs Harbour Running Festival is one of the largest home grown sporting events in Coffs Harbour,. The event has raised over $140,000 for local charities and community groups since its inception and by taking part, every participant will be giving back to these local charities which include Camp Quality, Early Connections, Coffs Coast Autism, St John Ambulance, Life Education and the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour
