THE C.ex Group, one of the major sponsors of the bcu Coffs Tri is getting behind the March 5 event with three teams already entered, as well as providing Coffs Community Crew volunteers who will hand out water on the run course.

“We have three first time participants this year, all who are taking part with their colleagues as part of our community engagement program,” C.ex community relations manager Sarah Pryor said.

“The C.ex Community Engagement program supports community events and programs that make a significant difference to the community.

“Our team swimmers, Matt, Marshal and Greg are all avid surfers and regularly volunteer with the Mid North Coast Disabled Surfers Association. Matt is also heavily involved with Coffs Harbour Surf Life Saving Club.

“One of our cyclists regularly participates in charity rides, completing the Ride for Country Kids event last year and is registered to do it again this year.

“The main reason our volunteers and staff get behind the Coffs Tri is to support the local community both through the event beneficiaries and to help put Coffs Harbour on the map.”

The C.ex team members encourage other local businesses to put teams together for the event.

“It is very rewarding taking part in a local event where the funds raised go back to the local community,” Sarah said.

Entries for the bcu Coffs TRI have been coming in steadily with a great cross section of local business entries from Hair at the Promenade, bcu, Midcoast Printing, RETRO and Thermal Electric.

So grab some friends, family members or work mates and enter a team in the March 5 event.

There are three team categories: male, female and mixed, with prizes for the first three place getters in each group. Each team member also receives a registration pack and finisher’s towel and will go in the draw for some fantastic random prizes including bikes, triathlon gear and holidays.

The bcu Coffs Tri teams event comprises a 1.5km swim in the harbour, a 40km cycle out along Hogbin Drive and a run around the Jetty Foreshores out to the southern break wall.

Event director Sinclair Black said being part of a team is a great to start in triathlons.

“Doing your first triathlon as part of a team is a great introduction to the sport,” he said.

“A lot of people are confident in one or two disciplines but not all three, so competing with teammates can be very rewarding and lots of fun.”

All bcu Coffs Tri events on the weekend of 4-5 March start and finish at the Coffs Harbour Jetty. There is something for everyone, with races for children aged 6-14, an Enticer event for those new to the sport, and the Standard-distance race with individual and team options.

Don’t delay as entries for the event close on Sunday, February 26. Enter now at www.villagesports.com.au.
