Time is running out to enter Coffs Harbour’s popular annual Bendigo Bank Running Festival which is now only a few days away. Online entries close this Friday, September 7 at 5pm. Late entries are available on Saturday at the Coffs Harbour Showground, but will incur a $10 late fee.

Steve Moneghetti, marathon legend, and one of Australia’s favourite runners is returning as the event ambassador and will be participating in all four events, while chatting to competitors and offering tips along the way.

Event Director Noel Phillips said, “We expect to see many local names featuring prominently on the podium on Sunday. Jess Dougherty from Woolgoolga is currently in great form and looking like a firm favourite to take out the half marathon event, with the male field wide open at this stage.”

Korora’s Craig Parsons, who was the winner of the 5km event in both 2016 and 2017 is returning to see what he is capable of over the longer 10km distance.

Woolgoolga’s Michelle Pearson, the current female record holder of Coffs Harbour’s parkrun event is also running extremely well and expected to feature at the front of the field in the 10km event.

After recently competing at the national cross-country titles, 14-year-old Olissa Onley is in excellent form and looking like a hot favorite to take out the 5km event, which she won in 2017.

Event Director Noel Phillips said, “Whether you’re running for a podium finish, or walking with family and friends, it is a fun day out for all ages and abilities and we encourage our local community to come and support the event.”

All ages are welcome, with the oldest entrant, 83-year-old Thomas Holbut from Toormina taking part in the 10km distance. Thomas is a big supporter of local events and a regular on the mid north coast cross country circuit.

The event has also attracted those not even old enough to walk – babies who will be pushed in prams by mums and dads.

All events in the Bendigo Bank Coffs Harbour Running Festival start and finish at the Coffs Harbour Showground and include the Beachside Radiology Half Marathon, Mike Blewitt Ford 10km Fun Run, Southern Cross University 5km Fun Run and the Key Employment 3km Family Fun Run/Walk.

As well as running or walking, the event offers random prizes for all participants, massages courtesy of Coffs Coast Sports Physiotherapy and free face painting for the kids. There is also a large range of sporting goods for sale as well as delicious food and drink options in the competitor’s village.

Online entries for Sunday’s Bendigo Bank Coffs Harbour Running Festival close at 5pm, Friday 7th September. Limited late entries will be accepted on Saturday afternoon at the Showground from 2pm – 4pm, with a $10 late fee.
